I received my A pillar seals courtesy of Jamie and I must say I was very impressed, firstly the quality and fit of the seals were extraordinary. I was a little apprehensive as I expected an obviously home made part but what I received could easily have equaled if not bettered commercially available seals. seeing is believing...!
So how did it go? To start with removing the old seals took me about two and a half hours, this was exactly what I expected as Jamie's very detailed instructions prepared me for a bit of a task, he also included a useful drawing of the necessary tool for removing the old sealant from inside the channel . Whilst not difficult it was time consuming due to the old sealant which was applied all along the channel on the original seal. Channel cleared and cleaned I then took Jamie's advice and replaced the screws top and bottom of the screen with stainless replacements.
The next part installing the new seal was completed in just a few minuets I was expecting a struggle but after offering up the seal and moving the push stud to the inside hole thoughtfully provided :) I guess to accommodate different versions of the seal, everything lined up perfectly yes I said perfectly! amazing given the subtle differences between each and every Elan I never expected that.
Next I pressed home the seal as per instructions and dared to remove it again just to prove to myself that it was a good snug and tightly fitting replacement, and hey-presto impressive...! I now understood why Jamie's instruction made new sealant optional. I did however use a small amount at the top as recommended to keep the top of the seal in place and watertight.

Well that's it my new A Pillar seals fitted in seconds, I live on the south coast and the bleak weather windy squalls and frequent down-poring cant get past my new seals. :D

If you are considering buying these EPDM seals from Jamie my advice would be don't hesitate! these are A Pillar seal upgrades all the way.

Thank you Jamie and Thank you Lotus Elan Central.

Thanks for the kind words Tony, glad you found them so easy to fit. As I've said before once the bracket is cleared of all the old sealant and bits of sponge, fitting them takes literally 2 minutes and no need to bond them in permanently with sealant ( they fit into the bracket in such a way as to be sealed watertight by pressure alone and are gripped firmly ) so you can remove them as many times as you like. Used with the rubber door seals as well, they are as watertight a setup as you will find .

I still have 2 or 3 pairs available in anyone needs them, and clean as a whistle  .

Hello, Jamie N,

If you have or will be making any additional A-pillar seals, I'm interested in purchasing a pair. Let me know if this is a possibility - they look really good, and appear to be easy to install after the old are cleaned out of the way!

Best regards,

Don
