Coolant hose help

I wonder if anyone could help me with a temporary fix? I have ordered the full Samco kit but it is going to be 4-6 weeks before it arrives which means the Elan is out of action until then.

Would anyone happen to have the TB 1829 (Samco number I think) equivalent or know of where I could get one quickly?

Got a picture, or can you describe from where to where?

It is just to the right side of the engine and looks like a y shaped hose. The hole is right in the middle of the y and produces a rather impressive jet once you get up to temperature.

I am going extract the offending article this weekend and post up a picture.

I can't help with that one I'm afraid, but a bit of judicious effort with a Stanley knife, some copper pipe and some hose clips might see you through!

Is it Item 1? In which case it is Lotus Part no: C100K0026F for the turbo model. Available from SJ Sports Cars for a mere £86.73 +VAT+carriage.

Or item 2 B100K0029F for n/a same source £6.63 plus plus

Or you can do as Pete suggests, buy a bit of copper pipe and some jubilee clips.

I think it is item 2 but does this fit the S2 turbo?

Item 1 is for the turbo model..SE or S2
Item 2 is for the N/A (non-turbo) only

Would think therefore it is probably item 1 that has failed

There's obviously a glut of these things going wrong at the moment - see this thread from Joao....

I think that during all of the discussion there, that it is the short bit that you need (or that is what I've seen on all SE's, but can't comment on the S2) - that was what Joao needed.

It is a reasonable price from SJs. but if it's only for a short time and you want to risk a S/H one, I can send you the one I dug out for Joao (he went for a new one).

AFAIK it is in good nick (wasn't leaking when i swapped it for the Samcos).

If, for any reason yours (being an S2) is the longer version, then I can throw the other pipe and connector to make up the longer bit into the same parcel for you.

Unfortunately, I can't help with the heater valve 'cos he did have my spare one off me!!!!

The FED kit NOW has ALL of the hoses. You will need to decide what color you want and if you want to buy their stainless jubilee clips (hose clamps).

im assuming you own your elan for a relative short period like me. (just because you joined the forum recently)
if the hose your refering to is the same, maybe you should also confirm the radiator fans are working, after all, the failed radiator was the cause of my hose to give in initially.

It is definitely item 1 in the diagram.

The radiator and fans were replaced By Gazza not too long ago and were working back in June when in at Essex Autosport, but I will check once the pipe is replaced.

I promise you that I am not a shareholder or representative of any plumbing suppliers when I suggest that as a temporary fix might you not buy item two @ £6.63, a piece of copper pipe and two jubilee clips .......

dont be disappointed if the heater valve is rusted so much that you will need a replacement one like i did, you may be lucky and find the one currently fitted is made of plastic (like the one dave sent me) therefore not rusted.

good luck in getting your car back on the road asap.
