Jeemy - Stainless Steel Wishbones

Postby par » Sat 11.06.2016, 00:16

Anyone else on here still waiting on the stainless steel wishbones being developed by Jeemy?

When I paid the £300 deposit in March 2015 they were supposed to be ready in around 3 months. After a year + 3 months still no sign of them despite many promises that they were almost ready.

It has went really quiet again since the begining of the year so I sent an email a month ago and got an autoresponse email saying he was working constricted hours with no other follow up. As the Edinburgh Festival is approaching again which is his busy time and used last year as the reason for the delay I thought I would try and phone him today but worryingly both numbers appear to be disconnected.

Should I be worried or has anyone actually recieved wishbones from him?

If it was me I would be worried. Very worried  Over 15 months and you are still waiting !!

Alan (AB2CV) is in the same position as you and still waiting for delivery of his custom rear hubs

I too am awaiting several E mail replies

As with the BB experience, caveat emptor

I heard that Jamie was off on holiday until a couple of weeks ago and he didn't take any calls or emails.

When CCB in the US emailed him about his improperly machined rear hub (The outer bore for the race was many thou oversize and the race just pushed in by hand), Jamie contacted him when he got back and said he had a few hub kits left and the fab shop had been contacted and would make good on the "bad" one to Jamie when he does the next batch. I believe Jamie is sending CCB one of the hubs he has on hand to resolve that issue.

Try contacting him again using jamie@skybluedesignworks.com as the email address.

I wasn't aware Jamie had gone ahead with the stainless steel wishbone project, but I know he wanted to get started on it.

I have several phone numbers if you want to PM me the number you tried, I will see if I have something different.

You might want to suggest to Alan to try to contact him again as Jamie is now reachable.

Thanks - I have sent a mail to that address so hopefully will get a reply this week, at least I didnt get an autoresponse mail like the SVS address.

He did go ahead with the project and i took over the space from another member on here, he said he had the test set in October 2015.

I have sent you a PM with the contact numbers I have so if you have any alternative numbers I would be grateful if you could forward on.

Nothing yet from any of the email addresses. I have a couple of other phone numbers to try.

I am actually thinking of turning up at his address to try and get an idea of what is going on.

I am surprised no-one else on here has commented on the stainless wishbones as I would have expected the majority on the list to be from this forum! Maybe Jeemy's stipulation to not discuss this on LEC is keeping them quiet.

Sounds like a gagging order. Bit much from somebody holding £300 from each person and being 'elusive'... the minimum courtesy would be to keep people informed on progress of the project - or refund the money if it's not happening.

I must have missed the original thread.....
When did that star?....over 12months by the sounds of it....
We need to get contact......I would suggest asking BCN if he knows anything as it sounds like he may possibly have contact with him......

A copy of a PM I wrote back in 2015.............

"Hi @xxx,

I got so pissed off with Jeemy that I bailed out. He has never had the courtesy to get back to me via LEC PM or via his parts website !! :? :? He has also pissed off quite a few people on the forum who think he may be the new Bob Brown. I have also had PM's from our concerned "friends across the water"

His product may be good but his communication leaves something to be desired :?

ATB,

Mark"

I'm not involved with the SS Wishbones in any way - but I did get a set of Jeemy's rear hubs last year and I was similarly concerned when he went "dark" (around this time of year) for several months after payments were sent (after a similar thread to this - forum.lotuselancentral.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=24543&p=309285#p309285 - he did come back online and hubs were produced and dispatched - all was good).

I think it was mentioned at the time that he travels for work a lot and is ridiculously busy at this time of year and that seems to mean he can't/doesn't communicate.

Hope this gets resolved for everyone soon!

Ooops - I see that was par's thread too! Sorry!!

Moderator hat firmly on my head for this post

I (like many on LEC, and certainly everyone on the Admin/Mod team) was unaware that this "Group Buy" had ever really got off the ground....

... whilst there was a thread about the possibility of getting the wishbones remade, which went quiet due to the fabricator not wishing to proceed, and then an entry by Jeemy to say that it had progressed to a Group Buy with a list being started in the relevant section of the forum, it appeared to have stopped a year or so ago.

We were NOT aware that the persons on that list had been contacted by PM (or whatever other private means employed) by Jeemy inviting them to go to his own website to progress an order directly from his company.

We were certainly NOT aware that the persons contacted had been asked not to discuss certain items on the forum (whether that was purely to avoid confusing the GB thread with technical questions about the product or not is impossible for me to say).

At this stage, we are not in a possition to try to pursue the completion of any orders made by individual persons to a private business when the details were performed away from this forum/site.

There are a number of issues which concern me, and I would love to see the items being delivered, and especially if it allowed a gateway to future supply of the wishbones and any other items in the future.

Of concern at this stage is that monies have been paid for an item which may or may not have been produced, but have not been delivered - but it also gives rise to other issues which will be examined in the future, at an appropriate time.

One issue is about the wishbones themselves (well, a few issues really):-

1) Who is actually making (made?) them?
2) What material is being used?
3) What stress tests have been carried out?
4) Will they do the job properly and safely?
5) Who owns the rights to them? (as previously mentioned, the 'rights' to rear wishbones transferred to Miles Wilkins (Fibreglass Services) when Lotus were no longer prepared to supply them ex-works, as with ALL obsolete Lotus items. Is he (or the company) aware of this enterprise? Whilst it is one thing for an owners club (which in this case includes LEC as an online forum) to have items re-made for the benefit of its members, and such occurrences have gained the permission of FGS, it is another thing altogether for a business to replicate parts for customers/profit.
6) What bushes are being supplied? - Are the suppliers of the bushes fully aware that they are now supplying an item to a private business for profit, and not to an 'Owners Club' for the benefit of its members?

At this stage we are watching with interest, and will always try to assist forum members where possible, but the bottom line is that this IS NOT a LEC "Group Buy", and the usual rules of commerce apply - Caveat Emptor.

In the meantime, I would urge anyone concerned to investigate / consider the provisions of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and if monies were transferred prior to its inception, the Consumer Protection Act 1987 - specifically in relation to cancellation of orders and 'Distance Selling'.

.........but two questions remain:

1. Where did the original 'contract' begin - this website or A N Other and
2. if A N Other, i.e. Scotland, is consumer rights law in Scotland the same as the law in England and Wales? (EU Law won't help here!)

Dave,
I don't doubt your reasons for raising these points, but raising them may not have been helpful. Most of the questions are of no legitimate concern to this "Owners Club" and it should not express a technical opinion. Personal opinion is one thing, woe betide anyone with a moderator's hat on!

The "rights" apply to the whole automotive aftermarket industry and again it is better not to express an opinion - Leave that to the lawyers.

I hope that it all goes well. Jeemy seems like a good sort if sometimes difficult to get hold of.

ps you are well out of time on the distance selling front.

Blimey! 50% of the posts on this forum are expressing a technical opinion of one sort or another. If they disagree with my opinion they are wrong of course....

I distinguish between the "owners Club" and officials thereof in their official capacity and the private individual.

100% of the expressed technical opinion is well meant, that doesn't make it any less wrong! you can be as wrong as you like if it is personal opinion!

Simon,

I partially agree with what you have written, but refer you to the bit of my post which says "...other issues which will be examined in the future...."

Maybe I should have more clearly delineated where my Moderator hat was being worn - The second part of the post (from "There are a number of issues which concern me...") is much more (or even totally) a personal opinion and not really of great concern to LEC.

I have an interest in some of the points i list, but have no intention of airing them at this stage on a public forum. Suffice to say that I also hope (as stated) that there is a good reason for the delay in supply, and that the items are being produced legally, ethically and to a good standard so everyone is happy.
