Next job, the engine bay - guidance required fellow LECs

Having sorted the engine, fuel tank, wheels, exterior, carpet, alarm, sounds system, and all the trim, now is the turn of the engine bay.
I am looking to change all the coolant hoses, air intake, ancillary hoses and turbo hoses, plus potentially a more sporty air filter (KN kit?). The ultimate aim is to make it look the business, so any guidance on these would be a huge help...

You should find complete Samco hose kits available on Ebay - I think, have seen them before.

Thanks. The Samco coolant hoses look good..next purchase. Any thoughts on an air induction kit...are they worth it?

I would skip the induction hoses. The first generation had delaminating issues and supposedly have been corrected but they only come in the orange colour, so pretty gaudy. The Turbo hoses might be a thought, but make sure they come in your colour of choice and not the prison orange.

I wouldn't be tempted with an induction kit which takes the air from within the engine bay as it gets mighty hot under the bonnet and you'll be drawing in hot air to the engine with a corresponding drop in power as a result.

with draw cold air from outside but would recommend ITG Racespec oiled foam filter. Mine was fitted by Kelsport as part of a major service when I first bought the car. ITG foam filter
It works very well and I have a cleaning and re-oiling kit which I haven't used yet (Only done 9k miles).

Keeping the OE filter drum also allows for fitting a recirculating dump valve that takes the strain off the turbo and reduces turbo lag silently... can't stand the popping and banging of open dump valves, but some love it.

If only the recirc dump valves were easier to come by; I haven't seen a DV30 for ages now.

Serious now ... quite a few owners are running Forge RDV's. I believe Dave Pink has one and has expertise in them. There's a thread or three on here somewhere..

yep, that is the valve I use - (still haven't got round to swapping the springs, so can't update it at the moment ).

When i got it, it was cheaper to go direct to Forge on their website (only a couple of quid, but it all helps!).

Thanks all, and glad the conversation stimulated discussions on dump valves....

So, will start with some Samco hoses, then change the filter..will probably go for the K&N.
Then check out a Forge valve....
