Throttle Position Sensor

I looked through a lot of parts books and found the throttle body on the M100 is from the 1987 Isuzu I-Mark Turbo and the TPS that is shown for it looks like the one used in the M100.

The TPS for the '91 Isuzu Impulse Turbo is not the same as the one used in the M100.

The 1987 Chevrolet Spectrum Turbo also uses the same part.

The numbers offered are: TH277 by Standard, 8944331860 and 94433186 from Isuzu and GM, SERA4848 is the Hitachi part number for the Th277.

AC Delco used number 2134486 or 19236540.

The GM and Isuzu numbers are all shown to be obsolete.

I ordered a SERA4848 and will let everyone know if it really is a correct match

So, I went back into the catalogs and under the Isuzu I-Mark TURBO in 1989 there is a listing for a Standard Motor Products TH332 which cross references to TPS4085 and Airtex Wells # 5S5200. It supposedly also fits the Chevy Spectrum Turbo.

The TH332 is a Hitachi SERA484-2a and it looks to be identical to ours.

The TH332, TPS4085 and the 5S5200 are not inexpensive at Rock Auto $195.99 for the TH332 or $189.79 for the 5S5200 but a sight less expensive than the Lotus A100E6432S at £237.88

I found suppliers on eBay, Google, NAPA, Auto Zone and Amazon. Auto Zone seems to have one of the lowest price in the US at $174.99 - It is a Special Order Item so don't expect to walk in and pick one up.

Amazon has a listing for $167.76 and free shipping.

There is a reference to Isuzu part numbers 8943146060, 8943607820 (GM # 94314606 and 94360782).

So, NEW TPS units are still available from Lotus, Rock Auto, Auto Zone and Amazon and the TH277 is probably the correct electronics, jut the wrong attachment and connection, but it is a 4 wire device. The one I purchased was only $50.00 so not a big waste in the overall scheme of research. If anyone wants it, they can buy it from me for $50.00 + whatever the shipping to your address will cost. I will eventually sell it on eBay.

In addition you may wish to inspect your tyres for flat spots. After storing for a while without proper support for the tyres they will become flat on one side. This can also cause shaking: I know I'm currently suffering the same problem and trying to eliminate it. Had wheels checked for straightness (OK), but 2 tyres had flat-spots, so 2 new ones ordered. Toyo Proxes T1R in case you want to know!

Thanks Phil....unfortunately the tyres (all Proxes) were only 4/5 years old and had loads of wear left in them.....Need to buy some tyre supports!!

Well in that case I definitely need a new set of tyres as mine are 5 year old as the car is mostly in the garage using it for weekends or rainy days (yes I have towels always inside the car haha)

Reviving this old thread.

I can confirm that the SERA484-10 is a good replacement for our SERA484-2 TPS.
At the moment there is a good supply of SERA484-10 clones available and I got mine for €38 incl. shipping from China. A genuine TPS for the M100 would have cost >€300.
You only need to swap the connector from the old sensor and make sure to solder the pins in a different order (see photos). You do not need to connect the blue wire, as it is unused.
The old rubber sleeve fits on the new sensor, so the resulting TPS looks like an original.

I suspect mine is faulty as i am super rich on tickover , but it has gradualy got there over a few MOT's , so i now suspect the throttle sensor .
Testing it tomorrow , but if there's a cheap version available , i might just swap it anyway .

Tested the TPS , working as it should .
.39 volts with ignition on , but not running , 0.4 volts output at idle running .
So that's the Timing set properly ,TPS , CTS , ATS ,new plugs and MAF tested and functioning as they should , i replaced the coolant sensor and air temp sensor because they're cheap anyway .
Drinking petrol like a sailor on shore leave .
Richer than Elon .
