The DVLA will scan in your passport photo and signature and it all appears, as if by magic, on your new pink plastic card. All you need, if you do it online, is £14 (£17 by post) and this can be taken from a debit or credit card. No need for a medical exam or driving test, although you have to disclose any medical problems
