se turbo tyre pressure confusion

Sorry to raise a new topic but I've tried looking through all the others...

I have a 1990 se turbo and the owner manual says tyre pressures should be non-turbo -> 2.2bar/32psi and turbo ->1.8bar/~27psi.

Since these pressures were recommended for the now unobtainable Michelin tyres I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to tell me the consensus for the more modern/contemporary tyre pressures for road use, please?

It's a rather large difference between non-turbo and turbo for a such similar-weighted car?

I use 27 psi all round (Michelins or GoodYears's) on my SE's. Never had any issues. Mind you, I don't track my cars

In practice, I think most owners experiment a bit to see what feels right for their car. I have an S2 on Avon ZV7s, which I generally run at 2.2 bar all round. Like Mark, I don’t track the car (I’d push them up quite a bit if I did).

I use 27psi on my SE with Yokohama AD08R tyres.

(The big difference between the NA & SE when new wasn't so much to do with the weight of the car, but the tyres fitted to each were different, with a different construction).

Yep sorry, newbie error. I should have looked at wikilec first but I was a little consumed by the relatively low pressure recommended for the defunct MXX-2 tyre in the handbook. Surely more modern less sporty tyres might be different, I thought.

I see the from the last service bulletin that even 5years later the more modern(?) replacements seem to invite a slightly higher pressure and I think I'm feeling a bit more comfortable with that.

Go what your comfortable with Chris. I must admit that 27 psi seems low - I've never run a car's tyres below 30 psi before I got an M100 but if works for me (and Dave) so whatever works for you
