I included this as part of a post in my project thread, but need as much input as I can get - so I thought I'd make a separate thread as well.
Due to my new turbo, the oil return outlet is nearly level with the inlet to the block. I wanted to run one piece of hose from the turbo to the block, but the bends are so tight, the hose crimps. One option I've found is an adapter that screws into the turbo that has a 45 degree turn in it (a 90 degree won't work due to the space available). See http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merch ... y_Code=OIL That would allow the hose to run without kinks. The adapter goes from male 1/2" NPT (the turbo plate fitting) to a -10 AN fitting. The problem is, the fitting at the engine is a single barb, slip on fitting. If this fitting were screwed into the block, it could be replaced by a new, angled, -10 AN fitting. But it is pressed in. Not good! I would have to have a number of connections in a very small space (read: potential leaks).
How can I get from a 1/2" NPT threaded fitting (female - see http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merch ... y_Code=OIL ) to the single barb fitting at the engine with a minimum of hose bends and splices in between. Best case is to turn 90 degrees at the block and 45 degrees at the turbo with a metal piece of some sort. I also do not want to put a different return into the block.
Options: 1) the metal adapter mentioned above 2) have a metal pipe made to fit the bends required 3) skip the tight connections and run an aux oil pump back to the block 4) keep searching on the internet for hose adapters...
