CEL Code 54

Last night I got a CEL light, Checked the car this morning and I have a code 54 (CO-Potentiometer circuit) .

I'm after some general advice on where to go next.

I have been to the manuals, but I'm hoping someone has a top tip in which direction to go first.

Also, I have just started using 99 octane fuel, but don't want to that to divert my attention until I get some advice.

The car is standard.

went to check her out but the fault is now gone, but I did fill up with 97 octane.

Took the old girl out for a run and she appears to be back to normal.

Hi

Did you let fuel Tank level run low before filling up with 99 ? Could be dirt
in Tank or fuel filter. If returns find out when fuel filter was last changed,could re-occur. If code 54 reapears try to see if you have a "sooted plug" on no 4 cylinder as looked at from front.

Look up "Fuel Contamination".

You are bang on squire, the old girl was on 'E' for enough , only put in 15 quid to see how she went.

I'll take a look at the No 4 plug later, just clocked the weather outside, gotta drive her.
