The problem is that our webhost currently has their mail servers down for some upgrades. So any posts you post in that someone is requesting email notifications for will receive this message as the forum cannot connect to the mail server in order to send them the email.

Hi,
I guess that means people won't be receiving notifications of PMs at the moment then?

Cheers,

I've contacted the webhost to see what they have to say on the matter,

It done this once before and I had to change the method in which the forum sends emails out. They host thousands of forums for different websites so this problem probably is not unique to us.

Apparently we had so much email going out we were falling foul of some 'spam traps' that are supposed to stop spammers using the webhost to send huge amounts of email.

This should now be resolved ;) if it becomes a problem the host has said they can work something out with the limits.

We were apparently hitting the 100 emails in an hour limit for sending by SMTP, (which is the method I changed to when emails were not arriving the last time) we have switched back to SendMail for the time being.
